Argonaut Games Announces Croc 2 Remaster Release Date With New Upgrades

Argonaut said “Croctober” would begin October 1, with a month of news, updates and surprises on its social channels leading up to the game’s launch.
The four villages have distinct themes: Sailor, Cossack, Caveman and Inca. Croc can also race cars and speedboats across more than 40 stages, and spend collected crystals at Swap Meet Pete’s General Store.
The game’s roster of village Guardians includes Soveena the Squid, whose obsession with Ginger Soda makes her a threat.
The remaster is confirmed for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox Series X/S; the announcement also restores “Kingdom of the Gobbos,” the title used during the original game’s development.
The Croc2pedia is described as including a 90-minute “Croc2mentary” featuring members of the original and remaster teams discussing the game’s creation and return to modern platforms.
Argonaut Games is bringing back Croc 2 with a full remaster arriving October 29, 2026, across PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch Gaming Age. The updated version, now titled Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, restores the original development name and modernizes the 1999 platformer with improved visuals, new controls and fresh abilities like a triple jump Time Extension.
Croc will hunt for his lost parents across four themed villages while rescuing Gobbos and facing the resurrected Baron Dante PSU. The remaster packs in over 40 stages including car and speedboat races, plus Croc2pedia—a digital museum with 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from both the original and remaster teams Nintendo Insider.
Each village in Kingdom of the Gobbos brings its own personality and challenges. The Sailor, Cossack, Caveman and Inca villages feature distinct visuals and gameplay elements Worth Playing. Village Guardians like Soveena the Squid present unique threats—Soveena's unhealthy obsession with Ginger Soda makes her particularly dangerous Worth Playing.
The remaster expands gameplay beyond traditional platforming. Croc can race cars and speedboats across more than 40 total stages PSU. Players collect crystals throughout their adventure to spend at Swap Meet Pete's General Store, adding a resource-gathering layer to exploration Time Extension.
