Hercules Metals reports significant copper discovery extension with a 287-meter intercept in Idaho.

Hercules Metals reported that a 200-meter step-out at its Southern Flats zone in Idaho intersected 287 meters grading 0.58% copper equivalent, including 66 meters at 0.80%; a separate report described the interval as 286.5 meters grading 0.43% copper. The company says modeling suggests Southern Flats could extend the Leviathan porphyry system about one kilometer south, but drilling has yet to prove the zones are continuous, and the higher-grade copper enrichment seen at Leviathan has not been identified at Southern Flats. Two rigs are testing the gap between the zones, with assays pending from another hole, while additional rigs and an expanded drilling program are planned. The broader geophysical anomalies extend toward the largely untested Pegasus target, and Hercules also identifies Hook, about three kilometers east, as a parallel target—potentially indicating a larger copper district, though further exploration is needed to establish its scale and development potential.
Hercules CEO George Ogilvie said the company does not want to drill large porphyry systems too tightly too early: “you don’t want to be drilling them off too tightly and really throwing money away too early.”
Leviathan mineralization has been traced for more than 1.35 km along strike, reaches up to 750 metres wide and spans about 500 metres vertically; it remains open to the north, south and at depth.
HER-26-01 encountered bornite below the leach cap, which the company says may indicate that Leviathan-style copper enrichment could also occur at Southern Flats, despite the enrichment zone not yet being identified there.
Hercules is considering 80,000–100,000 metres of drilling in 2027, up from roughly 30,000 metres drilled year to date, as it advances toward its first resource estimate.
A separate analysis says six former Arizona Sonoran Copper leaders have joined Hercules; it also notes Barrick Mining owns a 10.3% stake in the company.
