New York Trade Court Faces New Legal Challenge Over Trump's Global Tariffs

President Trump's original global tariffs, which were recently overturned by the Supreme Court, are now being challenged by a federal court in New York. This is the third major case in less than two years challenging the president's ability to tax imports from around the world. The cases relate to Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows the administration to investigate unfair trade practices and impose tariffs if it finds that American businesses have been harmed. The government used this law to impose tariffs on 86 countries at once, claiming they failed to stamp out "forced labor" and put U.S. firms that better protect workers at a competitive disadvantage.
