Rocket Lab Launches Synspective Radar Satellite With Fifteen More Planned Through 2030

Rocket Lab successfully launched Synspective’s 12th StriX synthetic-aperture-radar satellite aboard an Electron rocket from New Zealand, placing it into a 572-kilometer low Earth orbit. The mission, named “Owl By The Dozen,” was Rocket Lab’s 96th Electron flight and its 17th launch of 2026. The satellite will support urban planning, infrastructure monitoring, construction and disaster response, while the launch continued Rocket Lab’s successful partnership with Synspective. Rocket Lab has 15 additional dedicated missions planned through 2030 to complete Synspective’s commercial radar-imaging constellation.
The mission lifted off at 3:22 p.m. New Zealand Standard Time on Sept. 19, 2026, from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand.
Electron’s Kick Stage deployed the StriX satellite with pinpoint orbital accuracy, a placement intended to maximize the spacecraft’s on-orbit lifetime and enable its immediate integration into Synspective’s constellation.
Rocket Lab said the launch extended its 100% mission-success record across its multi-year partnership with Synspective.
Synthetic-aperture-radar satellites can observe Earth during both day and night and can see through cloud cover, making the StriX constellation useful in conditions that can limit conventional optical imaging.
Rocket Lab has been Synspective’s sole launch provider for the StriX constellation to date, according to Space.com.
