Florida Gas Prices Fall 36 Cents Below National Average After Oil Slide

AAA said Florida’s statewide average had reached its lowest level in four weeks, after falling 29 cents over the week; Monday’s average was another two cents lower than the Sunday figure in AAA’s weekly update.
The price drop brought gas back below $4 a gallon in Bradenton, Orlando and the Tampa Bay area.
In Central Florida, Lake County had the lowest average at $3.96 a gallon; Seminole and Polk counties averaged $3.97, Orange $3.99, Osceola $4.00, and Brevard and Volusia $4.07.
AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins said Florida drivers were “finally seeing relief at the gas pump after a sharp run-up in prices last month.”
Florida drivers got relief at the pump in early October, with gas prices dropping 36 cents over 10 days to $4.06 a gallon on October 5. Yahoo Finance reported the state average fell below the national average of $4.36, saving drivers an estimated $5 to $7 per fill-up. The decline marks Florida's lowest price in four weeks, though prices remain $1 higher than a year ago.
AAA attributed the drop to crude oil falling nearly 10% in two weeks, boosted by emergency reserves released by the G7 and improving Middle East exports. The relief came after a sharp price spike the previous month pushed rates significantly higher.
Gas prices varied widely across Florida's counties and regions. The Panhandle had the cheapest markets, while Palm Beach County and the Keys ranked among the most expensive. AAA data showed Miami-Dade County averaged $4.15 a gallon, while Central Florida counties ranged from $3.96 to $4.07.
Lake County in Central Florida had the lowest average at $3.96 per gallon, followed by Seminole and Polk counties at $3.97. Orange County hit $3.99, Osceola reached $4.00, and Brevard and Volusia both averaged $4.07 per gallon.
The price decline brought gas back below $4 a gallon in three major metropolitan areas. Bradenton, Orlando, and the Tampa Bay area all dipped below the $4 threshold, marking the first time in weeks for these heavily populated regions.
