WKYC confirms that Akron Zoo's Boo at the Zoo runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 10–11, 17–18, and 24–25. The event is presented by Acme Fresh Market and welcomes guests in costumes, though face coverings are restricted for adults. Tickets vary by age and whether families are trick-or-treating.
The Akron Zoo is partnering with the Teal Pumpkin Project to offer non-food treats at each trick-or-treating station. Families can request these alternative treats upon arrival, making Halloween safer and more inclusive for children with food allergies. This accommodation ensures all kids can participate fully in the trick-or-treating experience.
The Akron Zoo will host Zoothing Boo on the morning of October 24 from 10–11 a.m., offering a calmer alternative for families seeking a sensory-friendly experience. WKYC notes that tickets for this event are separate from general admission and limited to help manage crowd sizes, making it ideal for children who need quieter, less overwhelming environments.
