Egyptian President Sisi Urges AIIB to Expand Financing for Energy and Infrastructure Projects

The meeting included Egypt’s Finance Minister and AIIB governor Ahmed Kouchouk, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and AIIB senior official Konstantin Limitovskiy, whose responsibilities include private-sector and corporate financing across several regions.
Egypt’s partnership with the AIIB includes not only project financing but also technical assistance delivered in cooperation with government institutions, private companies and Egyptian banks.
Zou Jiayi’s visit was part of consultations with AIIB member governments on the bank’s priorities after she took office in January, with the aim of coordinating future cooperation and aligning financing policies with member countries’ needs.
Sisi identified communications infrastructure, alongside transport and energy, as part of Egypt’s broader recent infrastructure expansion and sustainable-development agenda.
