Widespread Rain and Flood Risks Impact Multiple Regions Across the US and Kuwait

Nebraska is expected to receive widespread 1–3 inches of rain through Thursday, with 4–5 inches or more possible in the southeast; saturated ground has prompted flood watches and heightened flash-flood concerns. Colorado faces heavy rain, possible flooding and strong wind gusts through Wednesday or Thursday, while Chicago expects rain through Thursday before a cool, pleasant weekend; Maine’s showers are tapering off as drier, warmer weather returns. In the eastern Mississippi region, Wednesday’s heat and low humidity bring a modest fire risk, followed by rain later in the week that could total 2–4 inches and cause flooding. Central Florida is expected to become more humid and stormy, with weekend rain chances rising to 60–70%, while a high risk of life-threatening rip currents remains at area beaches. Kuwait is forecast to remain hot, with a slight chance of scattered rain from Friday and possible thunderstorms Sunday.
Omaha’s September rainfall had already reached nearly 7 inches by Tuesday, putting it among the city’s 10 wettest Septembers on record; more rain could move the month into the top five. The September record is 13.75 inches, set in 1965.
In Colorado, the heaviest rainfall was expected near the Wet Mountains and along the southern I-25 corridor. Gusts could reach 30–40 mph in the Tri-Lakes area.
Kuwait’s forecast also called for winds that could raise waves above six feet, and possible fog from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
Chicago’s rain was forecast to make for a soggy morning commute, with temperatures falling into the 60s once it arrived; forecasters said severe weather was not expected.
