Google faces a £1.2 billion UK class action lawsuit over Play Store pricing.

Google has been accused of overcharging Android app developers for over a decade, leading to inflated prices on the Play Store for about 20 million U.K. customers. The company's 30% levy for digital purchases violated competition law, and consumers affected since 2015 could be eligible for a £1.2 billion ($1.6 billion) payout. Lawyers for the consumers claim that Google exploited its market strength to extract unfair prices and generate extraordinary returns for almost two decades. The firm has denied any anti-competitive conduct and has called for dismissal of the claim. This comes after a significant victory for consumers last year when the Court of Appeal ruled that Apple had abused its dominant position to charge excessive commission from app developers.
