TV Show Saves Flight

Mayday Executive Producer Reacts to Passenger Who Used TV Knowledge to Stabilize Plane

Alex Bystram, executive producer of "Mayday," has responded to a passenger on the FlyDubai plane, Yaniv Hayun, who used his knowledge of the show to stabilize the plane. The incident occurred about two hours into the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain, an Indian national, causing the aircraft to plummet more than 17,000 feet in two minutes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Hayun as a hero, stating that he knew what to do based on the show. Two off-duty pilots managed to gain control of the aircraft and make an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. No passengers were seriously injured in the incident.
