IIFA 2027 Plans Fourth Return to Abu Dhabi

Tickets for IIFA 2027 are scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. UAE time on September 18, 2026, through Etihad Arena’s official booking platform.
The 2027 announcement was made at Arabian Travel Market 2026 and marked by a ceremonial signing celebrating the continuing IIFA–Abu Dhabi partnership.
Abu Dhabi previously hosted IIFA for three consecutive editions from 2022 to 2024; the 2024 programme included Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal as hosts, with appearances by Rekha and Shahid Kapoor.
Recent UAE editions have expanded beyond the main awards ceremony to include IIFA Rocks, focused on music and performances, and IIFA Utsavam, which recognises achievements in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema; it remains unclear whether the 2027 event will use the same multi-event format.
IIFA was launched in 2000 and has traditionally moved between international destinations, including London, Dubai, Bangkok, New York, Amsterdam, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur and Macau, before establishing its recent Abu Dhabi run.
Bollywood's biggest night is coming back to Abu Dhabi. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards will take over Etihad Arena on Yas Island on January 22–23, 2027, marking the fourth time the glitzy event lands in the UAE capital NDTV Profit. The two-day celebration will draw top stars like Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan for awards, live music and red-carpet glamour.

Two major Bollywood names will anchor the 2027 event. Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan will host the main IIFA Awards ceremony Sangri Today. Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal will helm the IIFA Digital Awards Ians Live. This two-host strategy splits hosting duties across the expanded weekend of celebrations.
IIFA didn't always stay in one place. Since launching in 2000, the academy moved between London, Dubai, Bangkok, New York, Amsterdam, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur and Macau NDTV Profit. But Abu Dhabi's consistent support and world-class venues convinced organizers to plant roots. The emirate's willingness to invest in Indian entertainment has paid off with a steady four-year anchor.
Recent UAE editions moved beyond just the main awards show. IIFA Rocks focuses on music and live performances. IIFA Utsavam celebrates Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films, broadening beyond Hindi cinema NDTV Profit. It remains unclear whether the 2027 event will repeat this multi-event format or streamline back to a single celebration.
