British Museum Extends Bayeux Tapestry Viewing Hours Amid Extraordinary Public Demand

The British Museum is extending the opening hours of its Bayeux Tapestry exhibition due to difficulty in transporting all visitors to the space. Despite limiting the text to read, having audio announcements and banning photography inside the gallery, the museum has decided to extend these hours. It did not specify how these hours would align with the strict lighting and environmental exposure limits stipulated in the tapestry loan agreement with the French government. A museum spokeswoman described the public response to the exhibition as "extraordinary". The French Culture Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
