Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Calls for National Unity at Mass Tehran Parade

The Tehran parade proceeded from Imam Hossein Square to Enghelab Square under the slogan “Labaik or Khamenei,” according to reports carried by ISNA and Press TV.
The number 313 was presented as symbolically significant, referring to the reported number of companions who fought alongside the Prophet Muhammad in the Battle of Badr in 624 CE.
The nationwide Janfada-ye Iran campaign reportedly began on March 29 after what Iranian sources described as U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran; officials gave varying participation estimates, including more than 32 million people in one account and 31 million in another.
Sasan Zare, spokesperson for the campaign headquarters, described the reported registrations as evidence that “the people are the main pillar of national security” and called the reported readiness to form a 30-million-person army “unprecedented in history.”
The parade’s military presentation included what reports described as technological achievements in Iran’s indigenous unmanned-aerial-vehicle program, alongside the participation of combat battalions in exercises held in Tehran and other cities.
Iran staged its largest military volunteer rally since regional tensions escalated, with President Masoud Pezeshkian attending a Tehran parade on Friday that organizers said drew 313,000 participants. Al Jazeera reported the government-backed event showcased the nation's readiness to defend itself, with participants pledging to take up arms. The parade, organized under the "Sacrifice for Iran" campaign, featured displays of Iranian drones and missiles alongside civilians wearing burial shrouds to symbolize willingness to die for their country.
Campaign officials claimed participation extended far beyond Tehran. Sasan Zare, the campaign spokesperson, said 31 million people had registered nationwide, calling the readiness to form a 30-million-person volunteer force "unprecedented in history." Tippin Insights noted the march ran from Imam Hossein Square to Revolution Square under the slogan "Labaik ya Khamenei" ("Here I am, O Khamenei"). The figures announced by Iranian officials could not be independently verified.
President Pezeshkian told reporters the gathering demonstrated Iran's commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity. "Iran belongs to all Iranians," he said, according to campaign officials. "Preserving its dignity and pride requires unity, empathy, and public participation." Al Jazeera reported Pezeshkian marched alongside military commanders and civilian volunteers, emphasizing that citizens form the foundation of national defense alongside Iran's military forces.
Organizers chose the attendance figure of 313,000 deliberately. The number references the companions of the Prophet Muhammad who fought in the Battle of Badr in 624 CE, according to Islamic tradition. In Shia theology, 313 also symbolizes the expected followers of the Mahdi, the messianic figure central to Shia beliefs. By framing the rally with this figure, Iran's leadership connected the volunteer mobilization to sacred Islamic history and religious duty.
The parade showcased Iran's homegrown unmanned aircraft and missile programs. Bhaskara English reported the government displayed newly developed weapons systems alongside combat units performing exercises throughout Tehran. Military leaders highlighted the technological achievements in Iran's indigenous drone program. The weapons displays served a dual purpose: demonstrating Iran's military strength to foreign adversaries while bolstering domestic confidence in the nation's defense capabilities.
The "Janfada-ye Iran" ("Sacrifice for Iran") campaign began March 29 after what Iranian sources described as U.S. and Israeli military aggression. Red State reported the government recruited hundreds of thousands of Iranians for weapons training and volunteer military service. Bhaskara English noted the campaign represented Iran's largest mobilization drive since its civil war, with participants signing up to defend the country against foreign threats. Iranian officials gave varying estimates of total participation, ranging from 31 million to more than 32 million people nationwide.
