Black Caucus launches $4.5 million campaign to boost turnout among young and rural voters.

The Congressional Black Caucus Institute, a nonprofit run by Black federal lawmakers, has launched a $4.5 million effort to increase voting among low-propensity voters in key districts in the midterms. The "SO VOTE" campaign aims to register and mobilize young voters, as well as voters in majority-Black and rural communities across the South, Midwest and West. The initiative involves partnerships with local organizations and in-person and online outreach to voters often overlooked by major political campaigns. The campaign will use geotargeting online ads and partnerships with content creators for audiences who mainly receive their news online. The effort is a response to Republican redistricting efforts in multiple states and reflects frustration among some in the Black Caucus at the broader Democratic Party's efforts to appeal to Black, rural and younger voters.
