Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav used a pickaxe to begin removing part of his ancestral home in Ujjain, saying the personal loss was emotional but necessary for the city’s development. The home is among 272 properties affected by a road-widening project intended to improve traffic ahead of the 2028 Simhastha religious gathering. The 730-meter route will be widened to 15 meters at an estimated cost of 9.8 crore rupees, and some residents have begun removing marked sections of their properties.
