Charles Schwab Expands Crypto Platform to Include Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink

Schwab has not given a concrete launch date for SOL, AVAX, and LINK; it cautions that launches may be delayed, changed, or withdrawn in response to regulatory, operational, or market developments.
Schwab's expanded crypto rollout could reach a broad audience, given the firm reports roughly $13.04 trillion in client assets and about 39.9 million active brokerage accounts.
SOL, AVAX, and LINK each belong to a different network with distinct use cases: SOL is Solana's native asset with staking, AVAX supports staking and ecosystem infrastructure, and LINK provides Chainlink's decentralized oracle services.
Schwab emphasizes education and planning tools for crypto, including access to in-depth resources from the Schwab Center for Financial Research and crypto-focused content via Schwab Coaching, to help integrate crypto into broader portfolios.
Charles Schwab is expanding its Schwab Crypto platform to include Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink trading in the coming months, The Block reported. The move marks the first major expansion since the platform's May 2026 launch and aims to meet client demand for established cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ether.
The rollout could reach millions of clients. Schwab oversees roughly $13.04 trillion in client assets and operates about 39.9 million active brokerage accounts, Bloomberg Bit noted. However, the firm cautioned that actual launches may be delayed, changed, or withdrawn due to regulatory, operational, or market developments.
Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) each serve distinct purposes in crypto markets. SOL powers the Solana network and allows staking rewards. AVAX supports staking and funds ecosystem infrastructure on Avalanche. LINK provides Chainlink's decentralized oracle services — meaning it powers data feeds that smart contracts rely on, CoinGape explained.
Schwab selected these assets for their established ecosystems and demonstrated client demand, MarketWatch reported. The firm plans to add more tokens over time, though it has not disclosed which cryptocurrencies may be next.
The addition of SOL, AVAX, and LINK expands Schwab Crypto beyond its current Bitcoin and Ether offerings. Coindoo noted that eligible clients will be able to buy and sell these three cryptocurrencies directly within their Schwab Crypto accounts. This move positions Schwab as a key gateway for retail investors seeking exposure to major Layer 1 blockchain tokens.
Schwab's scale amplifies the potential impact. With nearly 40 million active brokerage accounts and $13 trillion in managed assets, the platform could dramatically broaden access to these cryptocurrencies among mainstream investors who may lack experience with crypto-native exchanges.
Schwab is pairing crypto expansion with educational support. The firm provides resources from the Schwab Center for Financial Research and crypto-focused content via Schwab Coaching to help clients integrate digital assets into their broader portfolios, The Block reported. This emphasis on education reflects Schwab's strategy to serve mainstream investors who need guidance on crypto risk and allocation.
