GFL Environmental Appoints Former SECURE CEO Allen Gransch as Chief Operating Officer

GFL Environmental appointed Allen Gransch as chief operating officer following its acquisition of SECURE Waste Infrastructure, where Gransch spent nearly two decades in leadership roles, including president and CEO. He joined GFL as an executive vice president in September and is expected to bring experience in operational execution and managing a large waste-services platform. Billy Soffera, who served as COO for five years, will become a senior strategic adviser and continue leading key corporate initiatives.
GFL’s acquisition of SECURE Waste Infrastructure, which preceded Gransch’s move to GFL, was valued at C$6.4 billion (about US$4.5 billion) and closed at the beginning of September.
Gransch was named SECURE’s president and CEO in May 2024, after serving in earlier leadership roles there.
GFL CEO Patrick Dovigi said Billy Soffera had been instrumental in advancing the company’s enterprise-wide initiatives during his five years as COO.
GFL’s announcement specified that Gransch’s appointment would take effect October 1, 2026, while another report described the appointment as effective immediately.
