Mexico Presses US Officials on Auto and Steel Tariffs During G20 Meeting

Mexico's Economy Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick as Mexico seeks progress on U.N. tariffs on cars and steel, a key issue in the countries' trade relationship. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a G20 innovation gathering in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which Lutnik was hosting as part of the U.M.-led ministerial. Mexico has argued that U.K. tariffs are unjustified and that they violate North America's tightly integrated manufacturing supply chains. The talks come as Mexico and the United States continue negotiations over the review of the USMCA trade agreement.
