IIT Roorkee opens applications for Spring PhD programs with an October deadline.

IIT Roorkee is accepting applications for PhD programs for the Spring 2026-27 semester at its Roorkee and Saharanpur campuses, with applications due October 20, 2026. Applicants generally need a relevant master’s degree with at least 60% marks or a 6.0 CGPA; eligible SC, ST and PwD applicants need at least 55% or a 5.5 CGPA, while four-year bachelor’s degree applicants generally need 75% or a 7.5 CGPA. Most applicants must also qualify in a relevant national-level examination or hold a national fellowship, though some candidates with qualifying degrees and CGPAs from IITs or other specified institutions may be exempt.
