Alberta Opens Regulated iGaming Market

Golden Nugget is among Alberta’s launch operators, offering more than 2,000 games—including slots, progressive jackpots, video poker and table games—along with live-dealer blackjack, roulette and baccarat; its minimum deposit is $5.
Caesars’ Alberta platform features more than 2,700 games and includes exclusive titles such as Caesars Cash, in addition to live-dealer games supplied through Evolution.
Massachusetts Rep. David K. Muradian Jr. said residents already use offshore or unregulated iGaming sites and argued that the state must choose between leaving that activity unregulated and legalizing it to provide a safer channel and collect tax revenue. He also described iGaming as the next step after the state’s sports-betting rollout.
Virginia, Ohio and Massachusetts lawmakers discussed iGaming legalization at an iDevelopment & Economic Association roundtable, with iDEA state advocacy director John Pappas predicting that iGaming could become part of legislative priorities in several states in 2027.
Ohio has 11 in-person gaming facilities, and lawmakers are drawing on the state’s sports-betting experience, where FanDuel and DraftKings’ national reach and large promotional offers reportedly left Ohio-based businesses struggling to compete.
