Maharashtra Secures Rs 8.57 Lakh Crore in Investments to Boost Economy

The proposed MoUs span data centres, semiconductors, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defence, healthcare and agro-processing.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged large companies to bring local small and medium enterprises into their supply chains and work with institutions to train young people for the skills businesses need.
The state outlined plans for dedicated Education City, Medicity, and AI and Innovation City hubs to connect industrial growth with talent development and research.
Fadnavis said the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority had completed an Existing Land Use process covering about 2,100 square kilometres for the planned development of Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4.
Maharashtra launched Invest Maharashtra, a coordinated investment platform designed to fast-track business projects across the state. The initiative features 66 proposed memorandums of understanding worth roughly Rs 8.57 lakh crore, expected to create about 3 lakh jobs and push Maharashtra toward its goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Economic Times reported the investments span data centers, semiconductors, renewable energy, aerospace, defense, and healthcare.
The Adani Group alone committed to investing over Rs 6 lakh crore in Maharashtra across energy, aviation, urban regeneration, data centers, and coal gasification, New Indian Express reported. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged large companies to hire local suppliers and partner with schools to train workers for future jobs.
Maharashtra's clean energy sector emerged as a major draw for investors. Energetica India found that proposed clean energy investments alone totaled Rs 1.03 lakh crore. Vikram Solar committed Rs 27,941 crore, while Hygenco pledged Rs 25,000 crore and Ocior Energy-Jakson Green committed Rs 22,000 crore for renewable power projects.
Pranav Adani presented the Adani Group's investment strategy at the launch event. The company plans to deploy Rs 6 lakh crore across multiple industries. Energy projects lead the blueprint, followed by airports, data centers, and coal gasification facilities that will anchor the state's industrial growth.

This mapping effort will support development of Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4 zones, unlocking fresh real estate and industrial space. The land availability removes a key bottleneck for companies seeking to expand manufacturing and data center operations in the Mumbai region.
