Raiffeisen Bank International Partners With Bitpanda To Launch Crypto Services Across Europe

Under the existing Austrian model, customers can access cryptocurrencies through their current banking environment without opening a separate account with a crypto platform; Bitpanda supplies the technology while the bank remains the customer’s primary point of contact.
RBI CEO Michael Höllerer said the partnership is intended to respond to growing demand for crypto assets across the bank’s markets, adding: “As a customer-centric bank, we are committed to meeting our customers’ needs in the best possible way.”
Bitpanda already provides crypto services through other financial-industry partnerships, including with German digital bank N26, giving the company experience beyond its Raiffeisen relationship.
The partnership was announced shortly after Michael Höllerer became Raiffeisen’s chief executive, with the bank expected to present a new medium- to long-term strategy later in September.
Raiffeisen Bank International plans to bring cryptocurrency services to 18 million customers across 11 Central and Eastern European markets Finance Magnates. The Austrian banking group partnered with Bitpanda Enterprise to provide the technology backbone. Each of RBI's subsidiary banks will choose which crypto products to offer and when to launch, based on local rules and market demand Bitcoin Magazine.

Bitpanda already operates crypto services through other bank partnerships, including with German digital bank N26 Finance Magnates. The company holds authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, which supports the compliance framework for this expansion CoinCodex. This regulatory backing strengthens the partnership's legal foundation across different European jurisdictions.
The rollout will happen gradually, with each RBI subsidiary deciding its own launch timeline Finance Magnates. Local regulations and market conditions will shape which products each bank offers. The phased approach gives subsidiaries flexibility to adapt crypto services to their specific customer bases and regulatory environments.
