Singapore Haze Eases, Air Quality Turns Moderate

The western region peaked at a PSI of 106 at 10am on Sept. 20, while the eastern region reached 102 at 3am before falling to 79 by 7pm; the northern and southern regions remained moderate at 71 and 75, respectively.
In Singapore’s central region, hourly PM2.5 rose sharply on Sept. 19 from 67 at 11am to 117, then 149 at noon, before easing to 141 at 1pm when the region’s PSI reached 102.
The central region covers areas including Thomson, Marymount, Sin Ming, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Serangoon Gardens, MacRitchie and Toa Payoh.
Brunei began incorporating PM2.5 concentrations into its PSI readings on Sept. 1 and issued haze-related PSI updates five times daily, at 7am, 9am, 11am, 2pm and 4pm.
Brunei’s health authorities said normal outdoor activity could continue at moderate PSI levels, but advised children, pregnant women and older people to reduce strenuous or prolonged outdoor activity; people with heart or lung conditions were advised to limit such activity and seek care for persistent breathing symptoms.
