Trump administration launches AI-powered portal to streamline federal information and government services.

The Trump administration launched America.gov, an AI-powered portal intended to give users a single, conversational entry point for navigating federal information and services instead of searching across agency websites. Initially, it offers answers drawn from official government sources; the administration says it plans to add transactions such as passport renewals and Medicare enrollment in 2027, and Trump signed an order directing agencies to integrate their services. The platform uses Google’s Gemini and xAI’s Grok, and Trump said it is designed to protect users’ privacy and personal information. The rollout is part of the administration’s push to modernize government services and comes as Trump resists calls for stricter AI regulation, arguing the United States must stay ahead of China.
At launch, America.gov could search information across federal websites, including job postings and government-released UFO files, according to project lead Joe Gebbia.
The site says its answers come from official government websites and provides links to the original sources.
Trump said the site was designed so personal information is not collected or stored and conversations disappear when users leave; he also said that, “in theory,” the site cannot be hacked.
Trump claimed Americans spend more than 10 billion hours a year on government paperwork and said the project would give that time back to the public.
