Four One-of-a-Kind Rolex Daytonas Sell for a Record $49.4 Million at Charity Auction

Four one-of-a-kind Rolex Daytona watches inspired by the seasons sold at Phillips for a combined £37.3 million, about $49.5 million. The platinum Winter, yellow-gold Autumn, white-gold Spring and Everose-gold Summer models feature natural-stone dials and gem settings; Summer led the sale at £10.3 million, followed by Autumn at £10.2 million, Winter at £10 million and Spring at £6.8 million. Phillips called the auction a record for a single charity consignment and Rolex’s first charity auction. Proceeds will support the Federer Foundation’s education work and Re:wild’s conservation efforts.
Each watch has 54 brilliant-cut diamonds set across its lugs and crown guard, in addition to its season-specific gemstones.
The quartet made a surprise appearance at Watches and Wonders in Geneva, displayed on the top floor of Rolex’s booth, where photography was prohibited.
The auction’s total exceeded the CHF31 million achieved by a single Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime in 2019, though the Rolex result comprised four watches rather than one.
The Federer Foundation’s work includes supporting early education in Southern Africa and Switzerland.
