Soori’s Mandaadi Dominates Box Office With Strong Opening Week Collections Over Sardar 2

On Day 5, Mandaadi was screened across 3,950 shows and recorded 53% overall occupancy, while Sardar 2 had 2,473 shows and 19.7% occupancy.
Tamil-language screenings were the main source of Mandaadi’s Day 5 India earnings, contributing Rs 9.25 crore of its Rs 11.25 crore net total; the film’s Telugu version provided the remaining reported share.
Mandaadi’s early momentum was particularly strong in its regional versions: on Day 4, the Tamil version recorded 67% occupancy across 2,884 shows, while the Telugu version recorded 40.2% occupancy across 990 shows.
The film’s story centers on rival teams led by Kaali and Saattaappuli competing in a traditional sailboat race in South India. It was directed by Pugazhendhi Mathimaran and features Soori, Suhas, Sathyaraj and Mahima Nambiar in its cast.
Despite its strong growth, Mandaadi reportedly faces a high financial break-even challenge: its budget is estimated at Rs 75 crore, with Soori reportedly receiving a Rs 20 crore salary, while the film also required costly open-sea sequences.

The film significantly outpaced Karthi's spy thriller Sardar 2, which managed only ₹13.10 crore net in India and ₹19.85 crore globally over the same period Pink Villa.
On Monday, September 14 (Day 5), Mandaadi earned ₹11.25 crore net in India with 53% occupancy across 3,950 shows. Sardar 2 collected just ₹1.50 crore net, representing a steep 38.8% drop from Sunday, on only 2,473 shows with 19.7% occupancy Times of India.
