CNTE has completed the Czech Republic's largest battery energy storage project, supplying its STAR T system to the Modlany Energy Park in northern Czech Republic, according to PR Newswire. The park pairs a 42.7 MW solar plant with a 37.95 MW/41.7 MWh battery system — enough storage to help stabilize power for tens of thousands of homes.
The project marks a major step for large-scale energy storage in Central Europe. It also signals growing demand for grid-balancing technology as countries like the Czech Republic push to add more renewable power to their electricity networks, PR Newswire reported.
The battery system uses 11 CNTE STAR T-285 containers. Each one is liquid-cooled and rated at 3.45 MW and 3.793 MWh. Together, they add up to 37.95 MW of power and 41.7 MWh of total storage capacity, according to PR Newswire UK.
Liquid cooling keeps the batteries at a stable temperature. This helps them last longer and perform better, especially during periods of heavy use. CNTE describes itself as a global provider of integrated energy storage solutions.
The system is built for speed. It provides fast-response frequency regulation, which means it can react almost instantly when power supply and demand fall out of sync, according to ADVFN. That kind of quick reaction is critical as more solar and wind power enters the grid.
