Nepal ends search and rescue after deadly floods, shifting focus to rehabilitation.

Nepal has ended search and rescue after deadly flash floods and a mudslide, and is focusing on rehabilitation rather than actively searching for bodies. Phanindra Paudel, chief of the National Emergency Operation Centre, said authorities are considering legally declaring the missing persons dead to allow their families or relatives to complete insurance, banking, and other legal formalities. The flood also destroyed 12 hydroelectric projects, roads, bridges, farms and settlements. Haram Raj Uprety, chief officer of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, said recovery efforts would continue for remains, property or other valuables found during rehabilitation.
