Nexon and Embark Studios Partner with Chernin Entertainment for Game Adaptations

Chernin Entertainment film president David Ready said the games have “visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell,” and described them as global intellectual property with franchise potential across film and television.
ARC Raiders had sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and received multiplayer honors at the 2025 Game Awards, the 2026 D.I.C.E. Awards and the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, according to Variety.
The Finals has registered more than 30 million players; its free-to-play matches take place in destructible arenas modeled on real-world locations such as Monaco and Las Vegas.
The adaptation news comes as Embark pursues new game content: it planned a test of a cooperative PvE mode for ARC Raiders, while noting the mode was not guaranteed to become permanent.
Nexon and Embark Studios are partnering with Chernin Entertainment to create film and TV adaptations of two hit games: ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. Variety reports that Chernin won out over competing production companies to lead the projects, which remain in early development with no writers, directors, or release dates announced yet.
ARC Raiders has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and won multiplayer honors at major gaming awards. THE FINALS has drawn more than 30 million players to its free-to-play destruction-focused matches. Chernin Entertainment film president David Ready called the games "visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell."
ARC Raiders is a sci-fi shooter that resonated with players worldwide. GameDev News notes the game earned multiplayer awards at the 2025 Game Awards, 2026 D.I.C.E. Awards, and 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Its 16 million sales show strong audience appetite for the IP.
THE FINALS differs as a destructible-arena free-to-play game. Matches take place in real-world locations like Monaco and Las Vegas. Over 30 million players have tried the game, making it a proven hit across a global audience ready to follow the franchise elsewhere.
Chernin Entertainment is part of The North Road Company and specializes in entertainment adaptations. GeekTyrant reports the company beat out other contenders to land both projects. Their selection suggests Embark Studios believes Chernin understands how to translate interactive worlds into linear storytelling formats.
The partnership gives Embark's creative teams direct roles in shaping how their games move to film and television. This hands-on approach helps protect the core identity of each world while expanding it into new mediums that reach audiences beyond gamers.
While adaptations develop, Embark continues building new content. GamingBolt reports the studio plans to test a cooperative PvE mode for ARC Raiders, though it did not guarantee the mode would stay permanent. The test lets developers gauge player interest before committing resources.
Both projects remain early-stage. No cast, writers, or directors have been hired. Fans should expect a lengthy development period before any official announcements about creative talent, plot details, or when these adaptations might air or release in theaters.
