Odisha announces a Rs 1,500-crore investment package to expand statewide tourism infrastructure.

Odisha’s revised tourism policy cuts the minimum room requirement for star hotels from 50 to 10 and raises the maximum capital subsidy from Rs 20 crore to Rs 120 crore.
The state launched a new Odisha Tourism Portal and a web application to manage tourism investment incentives.
At Nandankanan, Parida also reviewed the health and overall condition of rescued orangutans housed at the zoo’s hand-rearing centre.
The first phase of the Shikhar Chandi Temple development plan is targeted for completion before Navratri, after which the improved facilities are expected to open to devotees.
Odisha is investing Rs 1,500 crore into tourism over the next five years, cutting red tape to lure hotels and resorts. Travel Trends Today reported the state has slashed the minimum room requirement for star hotels from 50 to just 10 rooms and raised the maximum capital subsidy from Rs 20 crore to Rs 120 crore. The move is part of a sweeping infrastructure push that includes a 5,500-acre land bank and new digital tools to streamline investment.
Odisha launched a new Tourism Portal and web application designed to fast-track investment approvals. News18 reported the state also unveiled India's first dedicated MICE incentive portal—MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions—to attract business tourism dollars. The revised policy aims to make it easier and cheaper for developers to build accommodations across the state.
Odisha plans to station tourist police at 29 popular destinations to boost visitor safety. The state will also train 1,000 lifeguards to patrol beaches and water-sports sites, cutting drowning risks. Destination managers will be posted at crowded spots to handle crowds, manage traffic and improve overall visitor experience. These moves are part of the larger infrastructure overhaul announced at the 7th Odisha Travel Bazaar.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida reviewed conditions at Nandankanan Zoological Park and ordered immediate upgrades to drinking water stations, restrooms, and transportation within the grounds. She also reviewed the health of rescued orangutans housed at the zoo's hand-rearing centre. The upgrades must balance visitor comfort with wildlife protection and the park's natural habitat.
Parida directed officials to fast-track improvements at Shikhar Chandi Temple ahead of Navratri celebrations. The first phase will add better access roads, parking, drinking water and rest areas for pilgrims. Work is targeted for completion before Navratri begins, when the temple expects a surge in devotees seeking blessings at the hilltop shrine. The upgrades will ease congestion and improve the experience for thousands of visitors.
