Prime Video Secures Six-Year Global Rights for the Primetime Emmys Starting in 2027

The Television Academy has announced a six-year deal with Amazon's Prime Video streamer to take over the Primetime Emmys telecast. The deal is believed to be worth around $15 million for global rights to the Emmys beginning in 2027. This is a significant increase from the previous "wheel deal" where ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox paid around $8 million to $10 million annually for domestic rights. The new pact also includes the possibility of other Emmy programs also airing on Prime Video. The move ends the "wheel" deal after 31 years and moves the Emys off broadcast TV for the first time since 1949.
