Potomac Water Filtration Plant Resumes Production While Conservation Request Remains in Effect

WSSC Water has announced that its Potomac Water Filtration Plant is now producing water following an electrical issue that disrupted normal operations. This follows a warning that a systemwide boil water advisory could be issued for all 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George's counties if operations at the plant could not be restored. While production has resumed, WSSC has asked customers to conserve water only for essential purposes. The plant is gradually ramping up to normal production levels and the water distribution system must be refilled and stabilized before the conservation request can be lifted. The Patuxent Water Fination Plant remained operational throughout the disruption and is currently producing approximately 90 million to 95 million gallons per day.
