IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Dhanbad Sign Pact to Advance Semiconductor Research

IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding to expand research collaboration, academic exchanges and innovation. Their initial focus will be semiconductor technology and basic sciences, with plans for joint research projects, external funding applications, shared experimental resources and jointly used large-scale facilities. The agreement also provides for reciprocal doctoral supervision, visiting and adjunct faculty opportunities, student exchanges, seminars and observerships. The institutes said the partnership will combine their complementary expertise and create deeper academic and research links.
The institutes will organise joint discussion meetings to build a shared base of expertise and intensify research in specific focus areas.
IIT Bhubaneswar Director Shreepad Karmalkar said the partnership is intended to advance knowledge across different fields by combining the institutions’ complementary strengths.
IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Director Sukumar Mishra described the MoU as the beginning of a broader journey toward deeper collaboration in research and academia, with the combined expertise expected to contribute to science and society.
The MoU was signed on Wednesday at IIT Bhubaneswar, with senior institute officials including Dean-PG and Research Programs Subhransu R. Samantaray participating in the occasion.
