Jio Plans Free Canva Tools for Millions

The promotion is valued at up to ₹4,000 for eligible customers.
Canva Co-Founder and COO Cliff Obrecht described India as one of Canva’s fastest-growing markets and said the Jio partnership would expand access to creators, educators and businesses in the country.
Canva said the partnership will help users create presentations, publicity materials and other professional communications using its premium templates and AI-powered tools.
Reliance Industries President Kiran Thomas said the tools would be available “in the language they're most comfortable with,” framing the initiative as a way for Indians to create, learn, grow and earn in a digital-first economy.
Reliance Jio and Canva announced a major partnership giving millions of eligible Indian customers free access to Canva's premium design tools for up to 12 months. Times of India reported that the offer launches September 16 through the MyJio app, with benefits valued at up to ₹4,000 per user. The ₹399 recharge plan includes Canva Pro, while the ₹349 plan and eligible higher-tier plans offer Canva Pro Lite.
The partnership aims to support students, creators, entrepreneurs and small businesses across India. Passionate in Marketing noted that Canva's AI-powered tools — including background removal, Magic Resize and premium templates — will be available in Hindi and other Indian languages, helping users create presentations, marketing materials and professional content.
The deal links Canva access to Jio's recharge plans. Free Press Journal explained that users recharging with ₹399 get full Canva Pro for 12 months. Customers on ₹349 plans or 2GB-per-day plans above ₹349 receive Canva Pro Lite instead. Both tiers unlock premium templates, stock photos, videos and AI design features.
According to Swap Update, the initiative represents a strategic push to democratize design tools for India's growing digital workforce. Reliance Jio President Kiran Thomas emphasized making tools available 'in the language they're most comfortable with,' positioning the offer as enabling Indians to 'create, learn, grow and earn' in a digital-first economy.
Canva's global footprint is rapidly expanding, and India is leading that charge. Passionate in Marketing noted that Canva Co-Founder and COO Cliff Obrecht called India one of the platform's fastest-growing markets. The Jio partnership dramatically broadens reach among students, educators, small business owners and creators who previously couldn't afford premium subscriptions.
The timing is strategic. India's digital economy is accelerating, and millions of Jio users lack easy access to professional design tools. News Karnataka reported that the 12-month free period gives users time to adopt Canva's workflow before deciding whether to pay for future subscriptions.
Canva Pro and Pro Lite unlock significant design capabilities beyond the free tier. Free Press Journal listed the included features: thousands of premium templates, millions of stock photos and videos, AI background removal, Magic Resize (which adjusts designs to fit different formats), and brand kit functionality for consistent design work.
For small business owners and creators, these tools eliminate the barrier of expensive design software. Users can build social media posts, pitch decks, YouTube thumbnails, business cards and marketing collateral without hiring a designer. Language support in Hindi and regional languages makes the platform accessible to non-English speakers across India's diverse population.
