Pierpaolo Piccioli brings Balenciaga couture techniques to everyday clothing in his latest collection.

Piccioli called the collection his “most personal” yet and said he wanted to create desirability in familiar clothes, explaining: “I like shirts, I like jeans – I like the dignity of them.”
The coral reference drew on Corallium rubrum, which grows only a few millimeters per year and forms branches that are never identical; Piccioli’s show notes summed up the collection’s theme with “No one shines alone.”
Neo Gazar, the stiff silk Piccioli revived in July, returned in multiple forms—including a semi-fitted suit, tunic, sack dress, cocoon coat and balloon skirt. The collection also used lightweight technical taffeta and was framed around the idea of “unsized” clothing that can move and change around the body.
Accessories included oversized sunglasses, chain-trimmed thong sandals, knotted hobo bags and long belted bags worn around the waist.
Pierpaolo Piccioli's Spring/Summer 2027 collection for Balenciaga blurred the line between high fashion and everyday wear, using couture construction to transform ordinary shirts, jeans and T-shirts into sculptural pieces. Fzine reported that the designer elevated familiar staples through expert tailoring, exaggerated proportions and dramatic silhouettes inspired by red Mediterranean coral.
The collection opened with white and ivory looks before moving into vivid oranges, pinks, limes and blues. Piccioli called it his "most personal" work yet, saying "I like shirts, I like jeans – I like the dignity of them." The monumental coral sculpture on the runway symbolized growth and uniqueness, with Piccioli's notes capturing the theme: "No one shines alone."
Neo Gazar, the stiff silk Piccioli reintroduced earlier this year, became a cornerstone of the collection. Fzine noted the fabric appeared in multiple forms: semi-fitted suits, tunics, sack dresses, cocoon coats and balloon skirts. The designer paired it with lightweight technical taffeta to create "unsized" clothing that moves and shifts around the body rather than clinging to it.
Piccioli wove together opposing design codes throughout the show. Dramatic architectural dresses sat alongside everyday cargos and distressed denim, each piece refined through meticulous construction. Fzine explained that the collection treated basic clothes with couture-level craft, giving familiar silhouettes unexpected depth and presence through sculptural cuts and expert tailoring.
Oversized sunglasses, chain-trimmed thong sandals, knotted hobo bags and long belted waist bags rounded out the collection. These pieces echoed Balenciaga's heritage while reinforcing Piccioli's contemporary take—bold and unapologetic without sacrificing wearability. The accessories demonstrated how even smaller items could carry the collection's sculptural DNA.
Piccioli's vision honors founder Cristóbal Balenciaga's couture heritage while embracing more recent design eras from the house. Fzine noted that the collection shaped a contemporary identity for Balenciaga by proving that couture techniques need not be confined to formal wear. Instead, they can elevate and dignify the clothes people actually wear every day.
