Meesho Reports Content-Commerce Net Merchandise Value Up 152 Percent Driven by Small-Town Creators

Meesho said its Video Finds short-form video platform logged nearly 4,800 crore views and around 9,000 crore minutes of watch time over the 12 months, illustrating the scale of content consumption behind the commerce channel.
The 1.6 lakh creators produced more than 1.5 million pieces of content, and Meesho said creator-led product matching delivered higher conversion than the platform overall.
Meesho’s content-commerce model lets creators earn commissions on orders generated through their content, tying creator activity directly to transactions.
Meesho said 25% of its active creators were first-time creators, suggesting the programme is drawing people beyond established influencers.
Women’s fashion remains the largest category for creator-led shopping, but Meesho said content-driven discovery is also spreading into electronics, personal care and home products.
Meesho's creator-led shopping channel is booming. The e-commerce platform reported 152% year-over-year growth in content commerce net merchandise value over the 12 months through August 2026, according to Indian Television. The growth reflects a major shift: short videos and creator recommendations are now driving how millions discover and buy products.
The platform hosts 160,000 active creators — mostly micro-influencers with fewer than 10,000 followers each. About 81% work outside major cities, and homemakers and young graduates make up 70% of the creator base. Business Standard reported that Meesho's stock price rose 5% to ₹240.40 on the news, reflecting investor confidence in the channel's momentum.
Meesho's Video Finds platform — where creators post short-form shopping content — logged nearly 4,800 crore views and 9,000 crore minutes of watch time over 12 months. The 160,000 creators produced more than 1.5 million pieces of content. Newsbytes noted that content commerce now accounts for over 8% of transacting users and drives 70–80 million app visits monthly.
Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities — small towns and villages — generated 66% of content-commerce orders. Smaller cities overall accounted for 65% of demand. More than 400,000 sellers joined the program to supply creators' product recommendations. Indian Television reported that creator-matched products converted at higher rates than typical platform purchases.
Meesho's model is simple: creators earn commissions on every order their videos generate. This ties creator income directly to sales performance. About 25% of active creators were first-timers, showing the program attracts people beyond established influencers. Women's fashion dominates, but content-driven shopping is spreading into electronics, personal care, and home goods.
Meesho says content commerce brings incremental users and boosts app engagement. However, the company has not disclosed the channel's absolute sales value or what share it represents of total platform revenue. Despite the 152% growth headline, the lack of absolute numbers leaves questions about whether content commerce is core to Meesho's business or still a small, fast-growing niche.
