Jonathan Anderson Announces Dior Cruise 2028 Show in Shanghai

Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson will present the house’s Cruise 2028 collection in Shanghai on May 14, 2027, returning to a city with a long history in Dior’s designs and runway shows. As Paris Fashion Week’s spring 2027 season unfolds, emerging and established designers are drawing attention: Fidan Novruzova’s collection turns everyday dressing into an occasion, while Julie Kegels and Matières Fécales are among the other names highlighted. Dior has also teased its spring 2027 show with wénwán walnuts, a Chinese tradition associated with patience, longevity and good fortune, alongside nature-inspired imagery that hints at Anderson’s collection themes.
Christian Dior named a Spring/Summer 1948 couture look “Shanghai” despite never having visited China. John Galliano later said the founder’s China-inspired designs served as a catalyst for his own work at Dior.
For Dior’s first Shanghai runway show in May 2010, John Galliano staged the Resort 2011 collection in a 150-metre Dior-grey tent along the Huangpu River, before about 500 guests, with a 120-person Dior team on site.
Fidan Novruzova’s label, launched in October 2020, has drawn celebrity fans including Solange, Chloë Sevigny, Dua Lipa, Rosalía, Tessa Thompson and Irina Shayk. She is also a 2026 ANDAM Award finalist and a 2024 LVMH Prize semifinalist.
Ahead of the Dior Spring/Summer 2027 show, Jonathan Anderson shared teaser images of swan-shaped minaudières, worm-filled fruit, trumpet-flower earrings and white-floral heels. His debut Dior womenswear invitations had also featured walnuts, but as trompe-l’oeil details on ceramic plates.
