Silvaco and NVIDIA Partner to Accelerate Next-Generation Digital Twins for Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing

Silvaco Group and NVIDIA have teamed up to build next-generation digital twins for semiconductor design and manufacturing, the companies announced. The partnership uses NVIDIA's AI and accelerated computing tools to help chipmakers simulate and optimize complex systems faster and more accurately than ever before, according to GlobeNewswire.
Digital twins are virtual copies of real-world systems. They let engineers test and refine designs without building physical prototypes. Silvaco plans to bring high-fidelity physics-based modeling together with NVIDIA's computing power to cut costs and speed up chip development, Barchart reported.
Silvaco brings decades of TCAD expertise to the deal. TCAD — short for Technology Computer-Aided Design — uses physics equations to model how semiconductors behave. Silvaco will now run those models on NVIDIA's CUDA-X libraries and PhysicsNeMo platform, according to GlobeNewswire. The goal is to predict chip behavior with much greater speed and accuracy.
The companies will also use NVIDIA's Nemotron open AI models. These models help automate and optimize parts of the simulation process. Together, the tools aim to handle semiconductor technologies that are growing too complex for traditional software alone, Financial Content noted.
Silvaco also plans to connect its digital twin environment to NVIDIA Omniverse and NVIDIA Cosmos. Omniverse is NVIDIA's platform for building shared 3D simulation spaces.
